Gretchen Christy's Family

I love that this photo is at our house. It brings me so much joy to see that our home and farm as the beautiful backdrop of our daily life. Seeing it in a photo like this makes me so grateful for what we have and it inspires me to keep working to make our lives and those that I work with even better.

Are you getting your turkey thawed, making guest beds, preparing to travel? Or maybe like me, you’re mapping out your Black Friday plan of attack.

For me and my family, going out on Black Friday is a lot of fun and allows me to become a “serious shopper” for the day. I joke that manners go out the window but in all truth, I find myself saying please and thank you more than usual. Doing that seems to make the good vibe spread and bring smiles to people that are working long, hard days as well as to those that have possibly met their quota of shopping chaos.

In the spirit of sharing that same Thanksgiving mindset of gratitude, I sincerely THANK YOU for being a part of my community. I’m grateful for the fact that you’re out there, working to make your corner of the world a better, happier, more enjoyable place each day. When enough individuals do that, it makes the kind of change in the world that we all love to see.

I encourage you to pass on your positive approach to things by sharing your kindness and gratitude with everyone you interact with this week. Why not challenge yourself to keep it up throughout the holidays? Test it. See how your encouraging and optimistic way of thinking changes the feeling of a room full of people, and more importantly, how much more enjoyable it makes the holidays for you.

If you take this little challenge, know that I’ll be with you. Smiling at strangers, saying hello to passersby, volunteering to help people in small ways if I can.

From my family to yours, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with your favorite foods, laughter and good times with all those you love and appreciate.

With much gratitude,

Gretchen
