Maplewood Farm Retreat: Back to Nature, Back to YOU!

Consider this your invitation. (Yes, YOU!)

As the busy woman, wife, girlfriend, mama, sister, grandma, friend, personal chauffeur, chef, bookkeeper, taxi driver, maybe even housekeeper you are, you couldn’t be more deserving of a day that’s focused on YOU

Sit back and fire up your imagination. Go ahead…kick your feet up and get comfy. Pour yourself a nice glass of Merlot if you need to.

What if you had a day to yourself? A day without fielding hundreds of calls and texts, without a mile-long list of chores, without a lawn that needs some TLC, without paying bills or scheduling appointments, without littles barging in while you’re trying to pee – a day where you aren’t pulled in a million different directions, running around doing All. The. Things., feeling flustered and frustrated…

What would that look like? What would that feel like?

I bet the relief and relaxation’s already sinking in.

You wear so many hats that it’s easy to forget how important YOU and YOUR needs are.

But this day will remind you. It. MATTERS.

If you’re feeling tired, overwhelmed, stressed, grouchy, snappy, spread thin, wanting space, wanting connection, wanting adult conversation, you need some time for YOU!

I want you to know – I hear you! I FEEL you! Most days, it’s as if everyone in the Christy household is helpless. They don’t seem to know how to put their bowl in the sink or put their laundry in the hamper. I find myself constantly griping and picking up after them.

You know what? Before long, I become grouchy.

And…sometimes? I just want to wave a magic wand that can do all things that I feel I’m “supposed to do.”

When the reality is, I’m just burnt out and want someone to take care of me for once.

That’s why I created this day to help you take care of YOU!

You deserve to be fully present and focus on your needs – without feeling guilty for being away.

Put that phone down!

Listen, your family will throw a temper tantrum and act like they can’t live without you but…everything will be fine. You have to trust that you can take time for yourself, and the house won’t be burned down when you return. You might even find that you’re a better mom, friend, sister, wife or grandma when you leave here.

“Since the retreat, I recognize my need to take time for myself in order to be the best version of myself for my family.~Melissa Cotterman

Here’s what you can expect on your solo self-care day:

  • Morning yoga to get the blood flowing body moving and set your intention/goal for the day.
  • A silent nature hike so you can slow down and notice all the beauty that’s around you – from flowers to animal tracks and from the wind blowing through the trees to the leaves crunching under your feet.
  • A delicious catered lunch so you can enjoy a healthy meal that doesn’t involve you cooking it yourself, stealing leftovers off your kids’ plates, or hurriedly eating over the sink before you rush off to your morning meeting
  • An afternoon workshop that will unleash your creativity.
    • Vision Board: Create a collage of your goals and desires to remind you of what excites YOU about life.
    • Board + Brush: let that little girl come out and play. Get out the paints and ignite your imagination!
    • Letter to a Horse: Get ready to celebrate yourself with a surprising – and enlightening! – writing exercise. (Yes, it involves a horse!)
    • Pamper YOUrself: Think massage, mani and pedi. Your body will melt with relaxation.
  • 1:1 time with horses (not required but awesome because they are amazing gentle giants who seek connection with you and your presence).
  • An end-of-day celebration to reflect on the days’ journey so you can remember the feeling of what it’s like to take time for and care for yourself.

The retreat location is stunning, and the extent of God’s beauty is endless there. Being able to step away alone in the woods to watch and listen to the wind blow through was AWEsome. I haven’t felt that connected with nature in a long time. I loved the format of the day. There were so many healthy aspects. Movement through yoga, silence in nature, walking in the fresh outdoor air, healthy food, mental exercise through vision boarding and relaxation. All these things we tell ourselves we need to do but don’t prioritize them. It’s much more joyful when someone arranges it all for us at a beautiful one-day retreat! ~Abby Hemm

When you leave the farm (did I mention this special day takes place on an 80-acre farm complete with a beautiful barn, pond, horses, chickens, turkeys, hayfields, pastures, walking trails, and miles of wooded paths?), you’ll feel a little more relaxed, a little calmer, and – most of all – recharged and ready to step back into your everyday.

Are you ready to (finally) give some time to yourself?

Grab your spot now! The farm might be 80 acres, but we cap the event at 10 people so it’s an intimate, rejuvenating experience.

The retreat put relaxation time in perspective for me. Knowing the benefit of it, that even if for a small time, relaxation seems easier to prioritize now.” ~Natalie Young

Meet Your Guide

Hi! I’m Gretchen Christy. I am a virtual executive assistant and courage coach. I work with driven and determined women who oftentimes put others’ needs first and keep their feelings inside. I created this retreat for women like me and you who often forget who we are or what lights us up since we give so much to others. I hope this special day helps you gain the self-confidence and courage to be seen for who you are, ask for what you need, and genuinely be able to live your day-to-day life.
