Right now our beautiful wildflowers are in full bloom. We take regular walks around the pasture and pond where they are the most plentiful. You never know which new flowers will have bloomed from the previous day’s walk. It’s become a family tradition of sorts, and it’s always fun!
One thing I noticed during a recent walk, as I was staring down right in front of my feet at the pond, was that by not looking ahead I was missing out. My daughter kept trying to get me to notice the little fish swimming by the bank, but by the time I would look up they’d be gone. I was scaring them before I even got to them.
Remembering to look ahead is a reminder I often have to give myself. I find I can get so wrapped up in the day-to-day tasks of work and life that I forget to look up and ahead. When I do, it feels good! I’m able to see all that’s possible; what I’m working towards and the joy in life along the way.
I invite you to look ahead more often.
